Pellet Log KitsTM is a veteran owned, family operated business located in the Rocky Mountains in the middle of Colorado. It was started in 2012 by Doug Shaw, based upon “Made in America” values: American materials and labor.
The concept came about when Doug worked at the Confluence Energy wood pellet plant in Kremmling, Colorado. The plant was built to take advantage of the thousands of acres of beetle killed pine trees that devastate Grand County and the surrounding area. As part of an incentive plan, every employee was offered a ton of pellets at cost. Almost all the employees took advantage of the offer, even though most of them did not own pellet stoves. Doug worked in the packaging area of the plant and was constantly asked to save the cardboard tubes that the bags and stretch wrap came on. These tubes were ¼” to ½” thick and 3’ to 8’ long. They were sawn to lengths that would fit into pot belly stoves and wood furnaces, filled with pellets and ends closed with cardboard held on with masking tape. Crude but effective. After leaving Confluence Energy, this process was refined and developed into today’s version of Pellet Log KitsTM.
